Tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to found bnbExcellent:
I'm the founder of bnbExcellent and I'm on a mission to help Airbnb investors build life changing, and sustainable, income effortlessly. A seasoned Superhost to over 35 properties and an Ambassador recruited by Airbnb; I am here to share all of my secrets with you. I offer one-on-one guidance and Airbnb classes.
How did you first get into hosting and real estate investing?
I started investing at the age of 23, without even owning my own home! Since then, I've been involved in real estate from every aspect. As a tenant and a guest, a landlord and an Airbnb Superhost, a property management firm owner for 7 years, an Airbnb Ambassador and; on the finance side, I had a 10 year investment banking career specializing in residential and commercial real estate. As a former long-term property management firm owner, I was getting a ton of questions from my clients regarding Airbnb. It was a natural transition to start educating on short-term rentals and start hosting myself. I have since sold that management firm and my sole focus is teaching Airbnb hosts, investors, and aspiring host how to succeed.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Each day is different and it is what makes short-term rentals fun! Typically, I'll start with revenue management for the units that I co-host; checking occupancy, adjusting pricing, and then following up on any property issues. The bulk of my day is spent on calls and messages providing guidance to new and aspiring Airbnb hosts, a little bit of social media marketing, and running my daughter around to all her activities. I'm grateful for the flexibility Airbnb has provided. The most rewarding part of my day is seeing the life-changing impact that extra Airbnb income can make for my clients.
What advice would you have for newer hosts and investors, just getting into real estate?
Short-term rentals, real estate, and investments in general aren't "get rich quick" strategies. There will always be set-backs and challenges. When an issue arises, find a way to solve it in the moment and find a way to prevent it from happening again in the future.
