Dwelling coverage that matches rebuild cost: Not market value; your policy should cover what it would actually cost to reconstruct the property.

Liability limits that reflect exposure: $300K minimum for most landlords, $1M if you own multiple properties or rent short-term.

Loss of rental income coverage: if a covered event makes the property uninhabitable, loss of rent coverage replaces the income you lose during repairs.

Speed and digital experience: You shouldn't wait days for a quote. Look for providers that let you quote, bind, and manage policies online.

Short-term rental coverage if applicable: Standard landlord policies exclude Airbnb and Vrbo activity. If you're renting out your property for less-than-monthly stays, you need a policy that explicitly covers it.
